Bangkok - Eric's Second Home E-Review By Milax MyD2S, Eric Leong, Malaysia's Celebrity Interior Designer was in Bangkok attending the almost week long designer exhibition, Architect 07' in IMPACT, Thailand. Eric was a guest speaker invited to the exhibition by MTIB (Malaysia Timber Council) to represent our country. Eric's mission was to defend the timber usage and style as one of the main design backbone. Eric's Seminar Room: 25 Minutes to Showdown.. Having the privilege to sit in during his talk, had me in-touch with my inner nature loving self. It was an overwhelming turn-out as opposed to MTIB's previous venture into Thailand, according to a representative of MTIB. Eric initiated his speech by first introducing the 14 different timbers available in Malaysia, together with some detailed points of its nature, availability and durability. He then showcased the different types of timber usage via its presents in furnitures and flooring in our daily life, highlighting the involment of timber as part of our life. He followed his stats, with pictures of the individual usage of the furnitures in actual home styling that we see in a daily basis. Taking in account also the current style and theme, Eric also exercised a quick 'Bangkok vs Malaysia' comparison in terms of furnitures and decor items avalability. Eric's representation of the Malaysia Timber Council had done its fair justice. He delighted the crowd with his picture perfect woody-moments, unique design work that centers timber and the clasic do and dont's, to the awe of the niche audience. Creative: A Bare Build-up Space for Design... Architect 07' was somewhat of an out of world experience for me, in terms of the magnitude and the designs, and i wasn't alone in that as Eric also thought it was unique and massive. We had a quick walk through the exhibition but in about an hour, we hardly covered 10% of the exhibition. It was a worthy hour as there were many things there that inspired us to bring back home. “Malaysia is very close to having an exhibition in this scale very very soon, after all we have plenty of local big boys and talent to display also,” Eric said, when asked about a possible venture in Malaysia in terms of designer exhibition.
