Runway Parade With A Twist By Ivan Loh, IT WAS a night filled with glamour, with the spotlight turned on pewter and stars, at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre. Royal Selangor officially launched its Spring 2007 Collection on April 13 with many local celebrities gracing the event. Local celebrities Aishah Sinclair, Ahmad Izham, Belinda Chee and Xandria Ooi as well as singers Dylan Leong and Johnson Wee took to the catwalk holding the many items from the collection as part of the Royal Selangor-style fashion show. Also on the catwalk were Nita of Malaysian Idol fame, Amazing Race Asia winner Zabrina Fernandes, Christian Capes of What Women Want fame and fashion designer Melinda Looi. Royal Selangor marketing general manager Chen Tien Yue was also one of the “models” who paraded with the items. Famous guests and socialites who graced the cocktail party included celebrity interior designer Eric Leong of Casa Impian fame, fashion designer Khoon Hui, model Andrew Westwood, actress-singer Chelsia Ng and Miki Choong. Royal Selangor general manager Yong Yoon Li said the designs showcased were from the 'Pewter has a new attitude' campaign. “The last two years have been extremely exciting as we continue to celebrate the unique qualities of pewter and create designs that are relevant to today's lifestyles. Oriental: Mandarin-Themed Candle Stands... “Driven by our campaign, we have come up with modern designs, some which are created by international designers,” Yong said. Seven ranges of pewter collection were on show, featuring designs by zuii from Australia, Erik Magnussen from Denmark, Nick Munro from Britain, Island, Palladio Home, and additions to the children's ranges of Teddy Bears' Picnic and The Ark. The pewter collection showcases a range of vases, photo frames, cutlery, beakers, wine accessories and bathroom accessories. “After tonight, all ranges will be available at our stores and authorised dealers,” Yong said.
